Presidency blames slow eradication of Polio virus on poor economy


Through better backing for health organisations , the president believes that the battle against the eradication of the virus will turn into a shadow of times gone by.





The downturn of the Nigerian economy has been responsible for the moderate eradication of polio in the nation, as funds expected for this aren't readily avilable.

This was revealed by President Muhammadu Buhari, in a statement marking the second anniversary of the last time the polio virus was recorded in Nigeria.

According to Punch News, the last time the virus was reported in the country was on July 24, 2014.

Going forward, Buhari mentioned that his administration that funds are provided in order to ensure that the disease remains totally extinct.

The president recognized stakeholders who have made immense efforts to battle the occurrence of polio in Nigeria.

To make the fight concrete, the presidency reaffirmed its commitment to continue giving support to health organizations, who have contributed to the struggle through funding.
