Is Nigeria Worth Dying For - Austin Eguavoen Speaks On Keshi's Death

Austin Eguavoen was a teammate of deceased Stephen Keshi, the former coach of the Nigeria super eaagle. The two both held the captain band for Nigerians Super Eagles and respectively coached the national team when they retired from playing.

Speaking on Keshi's death and involvement of Nigeria's government in rewarding the country's heroes, Eguavoen said today as the former was buried:
"I am not shocked by the way the government has treated this event.
"For instance, most of us have yet to get the houses the government promised us when we won the Nations Cup in 1994. You are only energised when you have been looked after. You now wonder if Nigeria is worth fighting for or even dying for."
Also, Keshi's son Femi criticized the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government for failing to fulfill their promises as regards to the burial of the late Super Eagles coach.

Femi said:
"The federal government did not deliver on the promises they made to us as regards our father's burial."
